M. Elena Renda

M. Elena Renda is a researcher at the Institute for Informatics and Telematics (IIT) of the National Research Council (CNR) in Pisa, Italy, since 2005, and a Visiting Research Scientist at the JTL Transit and Mobility Lab, within the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP), Cambridge (MA) - USA, since 2016.
She received the MS degree in Computer Science from the University of Pisa, and the Ph.D. Degree in Information Engineering from the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa.

Elena has worked within the field of Information Retrieval, P2P, Mesh Networks, VANets, and algorithms for Bioinformatics, also developing web tools for the bio-community, while being a Research Associate at the Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie dell'Informazione - CNR in Pisa (2001--2005), a visiting Ph.D Student at the Language Technologies Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh (2003), a Visiting Research Scholar at the BarabásiLab - Center for Complex Networks Research, Northeastern University, in Boston (2013--2014), and a Visiting Researcher at the Senseable City Lab at MIT-DUSP (2015).

Since 2010 Elena has been working on Intelligent Transportation Systems, and she is currently involved in several projects related to ITS. In particular, she works on defining, studying and exploiting mobility sharing, and evaluating its environmental, economic, and social effects. Investigating privacy and security issues and their implications within the smart mobility realm is one of her main interests as well.
One of her most recent research interests is the exploitation of the (economic, social, environmental) sustainability of ubiquitous EV transition.
